Fashion Friday: Getting Into Summer!

I must say I get so much use out of this dress Frannie from Pockets and Lace sent me!  It is so light, perfect for a dressy casual night, and a great pattern for spring.  I especially love it paired with my Joie nice sandals--review coming soon-- and my new earrings Seth gave me.  The earrings are absolutely perfect and it was such a sweet surprise!  Here is the whole outfit!

Advice Wednesday: Handling Frustration

I am definitely someone who gets very easily frustrated.  Whether it be work, a messy room, school, or friends, I let things get to me very easily.  I know I am not the only one either, we all do it to ourselves.  To help you get through frustration here are some tips of how to handle it the right way!
Handling Frustration
Taking some time to cool down and recounting all the good things that happened, rather than the bad, always help me handle my frustration.  They make me realize that what I am frustrated about isn't worth it and I am usually able to let it go and move on :)

Fashion Friday: Conference Styling

Over the past weekend, I looked at a couple of possible contenders for the Smart Girls Summit this summer and I am still stuck between two dresses.  One is from J.Crew Factory and it is so great, but it is dry clean only and it is pretty pricey.  The other dress is from Nordstrom and I adore it, but I do need to find the right bra before I can absolutely commit to it.  Since I am having some dress trouble, I thought I would share a styling of the two dresses to do a compare and contrast.  Let me know what you think!
Nordstrom vs. J.Crew Factory
I do admit, looking at the comparison I really love the blue dress!  It is so cute and definitely something I would get a lot of wear out of!
Which is your favorite?
P.S. Go to GiGi New York to get the clutch I have featured with free shipping and personalization this weekend only!

Advice Wednesday: College Essays

Since I am getting to the end of my junior year, it is getting more and more important that I write my college essay.  We recently finished writing a draft for my AP English class and it got me thinking about tips for writing a good college essay.  Although I am no college admissions officer, I hope these tips will help you figure out how to write your perfect college essay.

1. The Topic: Choose something meaningful to your life and development as a person.  It can be something really simple or something really dramatic and big; however, make sure it really describes you.  Don't choose a story because it is funny or because it is sad, choose it because it is you.

2. Length: For most college essays, you are given a maximum word amount.  The common app maximum this year was 650 words, which isn't a whole lot, but it is definitely doable.  When I decide on length I try to do just enough to cover the entire story, while still showing my readers the meaning it has to my life.  I also just let my paragraphs flow and occur naturally.  It makes the essay much more casual, relatable, and easy to read.

3. To Title or Not To Title: This is a question many ask when encountering college essays, and you will get multiple answers.  Some people say that it is a waste of words and really doesn't add a whole lot to the essay itself; however, others argue that it sets up the essay and gives it an original uniqueness, that sets you apart from the rest.  So really, it is completely up to you to title or not!

I know this is a short list of tips, but they really helped me write my college essay!

Any tips you would add?

What to do on a rainy day

So, it rained a lot yesterday. And I had to go to school, but these are all things that I would have done if I didn't have school..
On rainy days it is so easy to get bored and lazy. I like to be comfortable and cozy on the days that it rains. What is your favorite thing to do when it rains? Leave a comment below:)
-Sit out on the porch and watch the rain
-Wrap up in my blanket and watch TV
-Drink a warm cup of tea
-Watch Disney movies
-Eat s'mores
-Write and schedule some blog posts
-Read a book

I love it when it rains outside because you get to do such peaceful and relaxing things inside! So sorry for such a short post, look for a more fashion centered post on Monday!

Fashion Friday: Business Casual

While day dreaming about my summer plans (hopefully a trip to NYC), I realized that for the Smart Girls Summit I would need to bring some business casual attire.  I don't know about you, but business casual has always been confusing for me.  It is a tricky style to handle because what is considered too casual, other than the completely obvious?  Since I needed some inspiration I started looking around online and I think I have a good idea on what business casual is now!  Here are a few outfits I made that fit the bill perfectly!
I'm sorry I only have one flat option, but I have always been a heel girl myself.  I especially like the red because it is such a fun pop of color!  My personal favorite of these three looks would probably be option one paired with the red or the nude heels.

What do you think about business casual?  Which outfit is your favorite?

Advice Wednesday: How to De-stress

One thing we all deal with is stress.  I personally tend to stress over the smallest things.  For example, last weekend while I was cleaning out my room I had a breakdown over the amount of shoes I had sitting in the corner.  They were so disorganized and messy and, well, just stressful to look at.  Luckily my sweet boyfriend offered to bring over a shoe rack and the issue was solved; however, the stress was not good.  It was exhausting and definitely unnecessary, so here are some tips on how to de-stress.

How to De-stress
Whenever I get stressed out, doing one or two of these helps a lot, especially watching Sex and the City.  I feel like it really helps me figure out what is going on in my own life to read a book or watch a movie.  Sex and the City is just one of those shows that I find I am able to relate certain aspects of my life to.  I hope these tips help you de-stress :)

Fashion Friday

Today I wanted to share a fun new dress I got courtesy of L.Mae Boutique!  I absolutely love this dress and I cannot wait to start pulling it out of my closet more.  The print is so bold and so much fun;  it is, needless to say, a statement piece for sure!

Dress: L.Mae Boutique Shoes: Franco Sarto Lipstick: L'oreal

I especially love pairing this dress with my favorite wedges I purchased from Nordstrom Rack last month, and I will definitely be pairing it with the new Joie Nice sandals that just came in the mail!

Do you have a spring statement dress?

The Lost Art of Snail Mail..

Hey Y'all,
Lately I have been working with Herringbone Hearts, a stationary company, and I was just thinking about how almost nobody hand writes their letters anymore! I used to love coming home from school when I was younger, and getting letters from my friends in my mailbox. Now, it's all bills and the occasional magazine. How boring is that?

I would like to bring snail mail, and writing letters back! I'm pretty sure everyone enjoys getting things in the mail.. Or at least, I do.. It also gives you a chance to learn more about other people, and where they live! You can also learn a WHOLE lot about somebody by the stationary that they purchase and use...

There are so many options when it comes to stationary. Just search stationary, on Etsy! Some sets are much more expensive than others. If you are willing to splurge more.. There's always Sugar Paper, and other online stores like that! But in the end, it's all up to you:)

In conclusion, "Snail Mail" is most definitely a lost art! I desperately want to bring it back.. It's important to keep old arts in practice so that we don't lose the arts at all! I challenge everyone reading to write a letter, and send it to someone either this week or next. Purchase some fabulous stationary for yourself. You really just need a set that expresses you!

I hope you have a fabulous Friday, and send me an email if you have purchased your own stationary set!

Advice Wednesday: Getting Better Sleep

One issue I have always dealt with is not getting enough sleep-- she said as she was writing this post at 11:30 at night haha.  But anyway, it is okay to stay up late sometimes; however, making it a habit can be so detrimental to our health and balance!  Since this is an issue many of us face, I thought I would make a list of tips to help you get some better sleep!
Get Better Sleep
I honestly never thought I would be interested in wearing a sleep mask, but they work so well, especially for those days on the weekend when it is sunny but I want some extra shut eye.  As far as a "Good Time" goes for getting to sleep I always go by 10:30 or 11:00 PM unless I absolutely need to stay up past that.  I know these are pretty simple tips, but they are so helpful for me and I hope they work for you too!
