One Night Abroad

One Night Abroad

Today I have a bit of a different kind of post for y'all... Smartling reached out to me, and asked me to participate in their One Night Abroad project. Smartling is a company that offers a translation service. They use a cloud based translation software that automatically collects content, and translates it back to you! Smartling's mission is to make the world's content multilingual. They created a One Night Abroad project to talk to some fashion-y bloggers to see what their ideal night out would look like if they were visiting another country. The blogger then explains how they would assimilate themselves into another culture using language, food, and fashion. Keep on reading to see my thoughts on the matter.

My personal style is pretty casual compared to other style bloggers out there. If I were to visit any other country, I would probably choose France. There are so many sights to see there, and I don't know.. I just always have wanted to visit. Language would be a little difficult only because I have never taken any French class. I currently am taking Spanish and I have been taking Spanish since I was about six. I would just get some sort of online translator, and hopefully be travelling with someone who speaks some French. When it comes to food, I'm down for trying just about anything. There are a few things that I'm a little iffy on, and I would probably just need to search the ingredients in the meal before consuming it just to be on the safe side. When it comes to fashion, I love the French Street Style. If you follow me on Pinterest, you no doubt know my love for the casual street style. Literally obsessed. The outfit that I have put together above is probably pretty accurate as to what I would wear if I visited France. A bright and long flowy top, leopard pumps, a casual trench, pearls, and jeans. The weekender bag from Tiny Tulip would obviously be the bag I would choose when it comes to travelling. *Look below for the links for all of the items in the photo above*

Fashion Friday: This Fall Shoe Trend

I am loving the Mary Jane and T-Strap trend I am seeing this fall.  They are seriously two of my favorite shoe styles because of their classic style and timelessness, plus they pair so well with the school girl look.  Here are a couple pairs that I am loving!

I also featured the Seychelles ballet flats because they definitely fit the bill!  I think they are so cute and great flats for fall!

Fashion Friday: What's in My Bag

A little while ago, I got a new Michael Kors handbag during the Nordstrom sale and I thought I would share a little bit about what I keep in my bag.  Let me start off by saying, I love this tote.  It has so much space and is so, so organized.  Like, seriously, there are compartments for everything!  It is also such great quality leather.  The leather used is saffiano, so it is made to stand a lot of wear and tear, but still will look great!  My last highlight about this bag is it's professional look.  You can use it for work, going out, or just as an everyday tote and you will always look professional!

Now a little peek of what's inside!

What's In My Bag

Okay, so maybe there is one more thing to highlight-- this bag has a key hook inside.  Did I mention it was organizedAnyway, I generally keep tote bags pretty stuffed, as I use them for everyday and work.  My main items are my hair brush, wallet, lipstick, and journal.  All of these are super essential to my day and I couldn't live without them!

You can shop the tote bag here, since the one pictured isn't the exact version I bought at the sale!

Anyone else have a favorite tote bag? What do you carry in your bag?

Fashion Friday: My Fall Essentials

I cannot believe it is already going to be fall soon!  I feel like everything is going by really fast this year, probably because I'm senior, but it is still so weird.  Anyway, since fall is right around the corner, I thought I would share some of my fall essentials.
Fall Essentials

Fall, by far, has to be my favorite season for fashion.  I feel like there is just so much great stuff going on and there is a lot more versatility in the way I can style my pieces-- plus I can wear jeans, which are seriously one of my favorite articles of clothing!  They are so, so comfortable and they look great with almost any top, including-- my favorite-- sweaters.

Also, if you couldn't tell, I am a little bit of a fanatic when it comes to shoes, but there are so many pairs you can wear in fall!  I personally am loving the Mary Jane and T-Strap trend I have been seeing lately.  It reminds me of the uniforms (well our school didn't mandate them, but I thought it looked cool) I wore when I was a kid.  They are such a great way to add a little playfulness to any look!

Lastly, I recommend a good jacket, a tote, and a clutch for the fall season.  I have a military jacket I bought from Target last year that works great for nights when the weather gets a little cooler.  I am also finding that my black Michael Kors tote is perfect for the fall season.  With a lot more going on, it is nice to have a big, roomy tote that I can carry everything in.  The clutch is basically just for fun, but this fall, I have a lot of formal events and I think my GiGi clutch is the perfect accessory to dress up some of my outfits with!

Advice Wednesday: How to Be a Camp Counselor

I am so excited because I get to be a counselor this week for my schools camp.  Every year the 6th graders go to a local camp and us seniors get to be the counselors!  Although it will be super fun, there are definitely some things any counselor needs to know before going to camp, and not just what to pack.  Here are a few tips I think are super important for camp!
Camp Tips

These are only four tips out of the litany I have been given for camp, but I think they are some of the most important.  The first two are definitely the ones any counselor needs to abide by.

For many of the kids, it will be there first time away from home for a week, so it is always good to stay positive.  By keeping a positive attitude it will help keep the kids from getting homesick.

Not judging is equally important because we need to try to get the kids to form new friendships and help them feel accepted no matter who they are.

Fashion Friday: Graphic Tees

J.Crew and J.Crew Factory always have such a great selection of graphic tees, but I am especially loving their options this season; that is probably because they are Paris and NYC themed-- two of my absolute favorites!  What is great about graphic tees is that they are so easy.  You can just throw one on with a pair of jeans or shorts and you already have a really cute look.  I also think graphic tees are super fun to add accessories or a great pair of shoes to.  Here are a few graphic tees that I am loving!

My favorite, of course, is the New York, New York tee.  It is so perfect and I really hope I will be adding it to my wardrobe this fall!
Do you love graphic tees?  Which is your favorite?
