Fourth of July Inspiration

I want to start off this post saying how very thankful I am for my independence. I am a very independent person, and almost every day I think to myself how gosh darn awful my world would be without the small and basic freedoms that we all take for granted. Freedom of religion and freedom of speech are probably the two that I really have no idea what I would do if I didn't have those freedoms.

The fourth of July is probably one of my favorite holidays. Mainly because it's the day after my birthday, but anyways.. I love being able to celebrate my freedoms, especially while wearing Red, White, and Blue! Here's some Fourth of July outfit and celebration inspiration:

Styling Chambray

Hey Y'all,
*WARNING* An overload of chambray shirts is coming up! I created all of the following sets on Polyvore, some in the Winter, some in the Spring, and some are recent Summer sets.. I basically just wanted to show y'all chambray through the seasons, and all of the different ways that you can style a chambray shirt. I hope that you enjoy the post:)

I love chambray shirts because they can be styled so many different ways. They are also pretty comfortable, and fit just like regular button ups! They are perfect for layering in the fall and winter and wearing with shorts, skirts, statement necklaces ect.. In the other seasons. Chambray shirts are certainly a staple that every girl needs in her closet.

Fashion Friday: Summer Shoes

Instead of sharing an outfit today, I wanted to feature some of my favorite summer shoes.  I absolutely love the collection of shoes summer has to offer.  You have so many more options since it is warm enough to wear practically anything; however there are still the occasional rainy days where I get to bring out my favorite Hunter boots.  So, here are my favorite summer shoes!
Summer Shoes

I practically live in sandals during the summer, but I also find it necessary to have a great pair of sneakers, wedges, and heels.  The striped heels I have featured are from Taylor Says.  I can't even begin to tell you how cool her shoes are.  I really want to buy the ones pictured to add to my collection-- that it is when I have the money haha!

Advice Wednesday: How to Start Your Day Right

Being the summer, I always find starting the day to be a difficult task.  Sleeping in always feels great, but when I hit the 10 AM point, my day goes down hill.  Being in bed that long just isn't fulfilling and in no way helps me start the day right.  To get the day off to a good start I have been following this set of tips!
How to Start the Day Off Right
Setting my alarm clock to 8:30 or 9:00 really helps me get up and going at the perfect time-- I always use Kathie Lee and Hoda as my motivation to get out of bed before 10 haha!  I also, usually take my mornings to get work done on my blog, Prep on a Budget.  I find it very relaxing and it is great to start my day off doing something I love!

Loving Lately: Tulle Skirts

Navy Tulle
I know, I know, I know.. I'm a little behind the trend. Ok, maybe a whole SEASON behind the trend, but I cannot get enough of these tulle skirts! I saw the pastel colored tulle skirts that came out in the Spring, and I LOVED those, but honestly as we go farther into Summer, and closer into Fall, I cannot quit thinking about how fabulous this navy skirt would look!

The Spring tulle style was so very feminine and chic and classy! I was just in love.. The pastel colors were beautiful. For the Summer, you could probably get away with a white tulle skirt, or maybe a mint green skirt, but I'm not so sure about the navy.. I think it's a little too dark!

In the look above, I styled a navy blue tulle skirt with a basic top from H&M. As for the shoes, I thought that these Tory Burch Caroline flats would match perfectly! To finish up the look, I added a twisted pearl necklace from J.Crew.

What do y'all think about tulle skirts?

Seersucker

Hey Y'all,
Seersucker has been one of my favorite things lately.. I just love the clean look of it! I know that there is green seersucker and pink seersucker and all those other colors.. But I personally LOVE the regular blue seersucker. It's very classy when styled right. I was scrolling through Polyvore the other night, and I found a ton of seersucker items.. So I thought I would put together some different outfits for y'all! Links to some different seersucker items will be at the end of this post:)

Fashion Friday: Cute Sleepwear

One thing I have always loved is cute sleepwear!  It is always nice to go to bed looking good.  I especially love when I can find affordable sleepwear that is still super cute.  One store that really surprised me was Forever 21.  They have great sleep sets that are cute, comfy, and affordable!  Here is what I love to wear to bed!

The sleeping mask I have pictured is from Mary Green and I can't even begin to tell you how much it helps.  I have the same one and I sleep so much better by wearing a mask, especially if I am having difficulty closing my eyes!

Advice Wednesday: Summer Reading

Summer reading is always super difficult for me.  I tend to wait till the last minute to read my books and then right around the corner the test comes.  I know we hate to admit it, but most of us have had or still have this issue.  Here are some tips that have helped me get through and even enjoy my summer reading!

Summer Reading Advice

By using one or two of these tips, my summer reading has gotten a lot easier than it used to be.  I personally follow tip #2, #3, and #5 religiously throughout the summer so I can get my reading done.  I also just find it nice to start and end my day by reading a book I find enjoyable.

Bubblegum & Navy

Hey Y'all,
Lately I have been loving the colors bubblegum and navy together. It is my favorite color combo at the moment! Maybe it's because of the darkness of the navy and the lightness and brightness of the bubblegum.. I'm not really positive why I love these colors so much.. I just know that they are perfect! Let's take a closer look:

bubblegum & navy
Because all of your accessories can't be pink and navy.. You have to add another color to the mix! I chose white. It helps to balance out the navy and bubblegum! The above outfit would be perfect for Summer because of the light material in the skirt. The fact that it is long and flowy, and paired with a tanktop.. Makes it a very summer-y outfit:)

bubblegum & navy
The above look is very simple and casual. It is also a good outfit for the Spring and Summer time because of the J.Crew chinos and Jack Rogers sandals. Almost everything in this set matches the pink and navy theme except for the bracelet of course..

Bubblegum and Navy
And last but not least we have the J.Crew bow back tank with a pair of navy cutout scalloped shorts. Not only do we have navy and bubblegum going on.. There is a pearly white thing going on as well! In the bracelets, and in the sandals.

Below you will find all of the pink and navy items used in this post:

So.. What's your favorite color combo for Summer?

Fashion Friday: Bridal Shower

This weekend I got to attend one of my friend's bridal showers and it was so much fun!  The food was great and I got to pull out my favorite maxi I bought a year or two ago.  Believe it or not, the dress is from Aeropostale.  The reason I like it so much is the fit.  Since it is kids sizing the length is perfect for little 5' 1" me haha.  Here are some pictures of the outfit I wore to the bridal shower!

It was absolutely gorgeous weather and I loved being able to wear an old favorite along with a new favorite.  I can't tell you how much use I am getting out of my GiGi New York clutch!  It was definitely worth the investment!

Do you have a favorite maxi dress?
